In April 2015, Congress passed the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) which made the news for eliminating the dysfunctional Sustainable Growth Rate formula. At the same time, it introduced significant changes in the Medicare Part B reimbursement model, involving the expansion of existing value-based incentives (PQRS, Meaningful Use and the Value-Based Modifier) as well as the introduction of entirely new incentive programs.
