Description:
Practice managers often handle situations involving rude, disruptive, and even abusive patients. Establishing a Patient Code of Conduct to set expectations for acceptable behavior promotes mutual respect, promotes transparent communication, and provides notice to patients that certain behaviors will not be tolerated.
This one-hour presentation will provide education on risk management in an office-based medical practice. Practice managers should be familiar with some of the high-risk areas for medical malpractice lawsuits and licensing board complaints resulting from poor communication.
Learning Objectives: –
- How to strengthen patient relationships using good complaint management processes
- The importance of using a Patient Code of Conduct to set boundaries
- Considerations when ending a physician-patient relationship
- How to draft a Code of Conduct or Patient Responsibilities specifically for your practice
