Phoenix Children’s Presents
New Emergency Department and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center
Phoenix Children’s will celebrate the grand opening of its new 42,000 square foot Emergency Department and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. This free event features trauma simulation, guided tours and program for public officials and EMS providers
Tripling its current capacity from 23 to 75 private exam rooms and dramatically decreasing the time it takes to transfer a patient from the helipad to a trauma bay in less than two minutes, this new space will undoubtedly increase the level of care for patients and families during a crisis.
During the event, speakers include:
- Dr. Jared Muenzer, Emergency Medical Physician, Senior Vice Present and Chief Operating Officer, Phoenix Children’s Medical Group
- Dr. Robert Bulloch, Emergency Services Division Chief, Phoenix Children’s Hospital
- Dr. David Notrica, Trauma Medical Director, Phoenix Children’s Hospital
- Dr. Toni Gross, Emergency Medicine, Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Phoenix Children’s Emergency Department and Trauma Center initially was designed created to accommodate about 22,000 patients each year. With the Valley’s growing pediatric population in recent years, the Emergency Department has seen more than 84,000 patients, making it one of the busiest in the nation. With donations totaling $40 million from our generous community, Phoenix Children’s broke ground in 2015 on a new facility that will accommodate 100,000 patients per year. The Emergency Department and Trauma Center will open to the public on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
