Course Description:

Leadership is not what you do to people, it is what you do with people.  This session will focus on critical leadership lessons for how to be successful in coaching staff, holding staff accountable, and building strong teams that effectively achieve facility goals and focus on the facility mission.  Strategies for effective team meetings will be discussed as well as examples of team building exercises that can be fun as well as educational.

Learning Objectives

  1. Become familiar with strategies for successful staff coaching and accountability.
  2. Identify methods for effective team meetings.
  3. Recognize techniques for successful team building.

Course Content

  • 15 min.: Review of strategies for successful staff coaching and accountability
  • 20 min.: Identify and discuss methods for effective team meetings
  • 20 min.: Become familiar with techniques for successful team building
  • 5 min.: Questions and answers

Target Audience:  Nursing Leadership staff (DON, ADON, Unit Managers, Nursing Supervisors)

Instructional Level: Basic to Intermediate

Program Length: 1 hour

    • Scheduling the next meeting

3. Recognize techniques for successful team building.

  • Key components of a successful team
  • Promoting “buy in” of the team members
  • Exercises for team building
