A new workshop series called ‘REAL TALK’ hopes to offer much needed support by engaging in an open and honest dialogue nationwide among Black and Brown communities about Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
The virtual workshop is a monthly series of two-hour sessions and include storytelling by caregivers, presentations by dementia experts, a question-and-answer panel, and an online “resource room” filled with information.
The next session, “Essentials of Planning” – in Caregiver Role will be held at 10 a.m. (MST) on Saturday, February 5.

Stories of Lived Experiences
Arthena Caston; Jay Reinstein
What if you could gain some insight into your loved one’s journey with dementia? That’s exactly what our guests Arthena Caston and Jay Reinstein are hoping to offer in this session. They are currently living with early onset Alzheimer’s disease and members of the National Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association. They share their stories and how they have embraced this next chapter of their lives. You’ll be inspired to hear how they have found new purpose, a way to reinvent themselves and offer perspective and support to anyone on this journey. They encourage others to keep communicating, exercising, accept help, take your prescribed medications, and work with your health team to ensure a higher quality of life. Stay positive and you can live well with this disease. They also offer their experience as caregivers for each other and other loved ones. This illuminating session brings caregiving and living with dementia to practical light.
