The Maricopa County Special Health Care District board is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the governing board of Valleywise Health, following the resignation of Director Barbara Rodriguez Mundell on March 27 for personal reasons.
Mundell, a former presiding judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court, was appointed to the board in February 2025; board Chair Virginia L. Korte thanked Mundell for her service.
Applicants must be registered voters who reside in District 3, which includes Anthem, Cave Creek, Desert Hills, New River, Paradise Valley and north Phoenix. Candidates cannot be elected or appointed state or county officials, Valleywise employees, or affiliated with another healthcare institution or hospital board.
The appointed member will serve the remainder of the term through certification of the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. The role includes attending regular board meetings twice monthly, as well as additional meetings and community-related events.
Applications and resumes are due by 5 p.m. April 9 and should be emailed to District.Clerks@valleywisehealth.org.
