The virtual workshop is a monthly series of two-hour sessions and include storytelling by caregivers, presentations by dementia experts, a question-and-answer panel, and an online “resource room” filled with information.
The next session, “Essentials of Planning” – in Caregiver Role will be held at 10 a.m. (MST) on Saturday, February 5.

They are currently living with early onset Alzheimer’s disease and members of the National Board of Directors for the Alzheimer’s Association. They share their stories and how they have embraced this next chapter of their lives. You’ll be inspired to hear how they have found new purpose, a way to reinvent themselves and offer perspective and support to anyone on this journey. They encourage others to keep communicating, exercising, accept help, take your prescribed medications, and work with your health team to ensure a higher quality of life. Stay positive and you can live well with this disease. They also offer their experience as caregivers for each other and other loved ones. This illuminating session brings caregiving and living with dementia to practical light.

Concluding the Series – Continuing Your Journey
Five (5) sessions, Ten (10) hours, Six (6) expert presenters (including two (2) persons living with dementia). Eight (8) experiential stories of challenges, courage, compassion, and love. A Resources Room full of information access to resources about caring for others and self-care.
This final two hours of the Series summarizes what you heard in the previous ten hours as the expert presenters return to participate in an audience led Q & A interactive format to hear your questions, provide answers, summarize key content “takeaways”.

SOAZ Health Program: Special Olympics’ health programming focuses on improving the physical and social-emotional well-being of people with intellectual disabilities (ID) by increasing inclusion in health care, wellness and health systems for Special Olympics athletes and others with ID.
SOAZ Athlete Leadership Program: Athlete Leadership partners with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (Special Olympics athlete leaders) to ensure they are set up to succeed in meaningful leadership roles. This is done by providing training in knowledge and skills, practical experience in roles of responsibility, and working with leaders without IDD to develop inclusive environments.
