Phoenix Children’s Hosts Grand Opening Community Event to Introduce New Emergency Department and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center
Families invited to tour the new facility, speak to physicians and enjoy fun activities
Phoenix Children’s is proud to invite the public and members of the media to take self-guided tours of the new 42,000 square-foot Emergency Department and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. Tripling its current capacity from 23 to 75 private exam rooms and dramatically decreasing the time it takes to transfer a patient from the helipad to a trauma bay in less than two minutes, this new space will undoubtedly increase the level of care for patients and families during a crisis.
Media tours from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m.
Ribbon cutting from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m.
Free activities for families will include:
- Face painting
- Finger casting provided by the Center of Orthopedics at Phoenix Children’s
- Scavenger hunt with Phoenix Children’s mascot, Dudley the Dinosaur
- Self-guided tours
- Coloring station
- Free buffet/snow cone machine
- Display of 500+ teddy bears for patients, donated by Valley Toyota Dealer Association
Phoenix Children’s Emergency Department and Trauma Center was designed to accommodate about 22,000 patients each year. With the valley’s growing pediatric population, the emergency department has seen more than 84,000 patients, making it one of the busiest in the nation. With donations totaling $40 million from Valley Toyota Dealers Association, The Kemper and Ethel Marley Foundation and Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, Phoenix Children’s broke ground in 2015 on a new facility that will accommodate 100,000 patients per year. The Emergency Department and Trauma Center will open Wednesday, September 20, 2017.
Please contact Lia Foy at (602) 748-9331 or at [email protected] if you plan to attend
Leaders from all sectors of health care are increasingly integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their organizations to achieve strategic goals, and confidence in the technology’s promise is growing. A 2020 Optum survey on AI in health care found that 59% of respondents expect a full return on their AI investments in under three years, nearly double the 31% who answered similarly in 2018.
Health care’s Quadruple Aim is to simultaneously improve health outcomes, enhance and simplify the experiences of both patients and providers, and reduce overall costs — and AI is seen as an integral tool to help achieve it. The risk is that predictive models may unintentionally perpetuate harmful racial and gender biases that directly impact a patient’s health or access to care. In order to overcome these challenges, health care organizations need to acknowledge their existence—and take proactive steps to promote equity by examining both the data these models interpret and how the models are being applied.
In this VB Live event, you’ll learn more about how AI can help health care experts do their jobs more efficiently and effectively, and how stakeholders throughout health care can use AI responsibly, ethically, and equitably. Plus, you’ll get an in-depth perspective on the strengths and limitations of data, AI methodology, the application of AI results, and more.
– What it means to use advanced analytics “responsibly”
– Why responsible use is so important in health care as compared to other fields
– The steps that researchers and organizations are taking today to ensure AI is used responsibly
– What the AI-enabled health system of the future looks like and its advantages for consumers, organizations, and clinicians
Speakers:
– Brian Christian, Author, The Alignment Problem, Algorithms to Live By and The Most Human Human
– Sanji Fernando, SVP of Artificial Intelligence & Analytics Platforms, Optum
– Kyle Wiggers, AI Staff Writer, VentureBeat (moderator)
Abyde’s Year-End HIPAA Review and Analysis Webinar
Tuesday, November 9, 2021 6pmPT (5pm AZ)
Value: Free Event
Description: Join us on Tuesday, November 9 at 6:00 pm PST for a short presentation covering the important first step in meeting annual HIPAA requirements – the Security Risk Analysis (SRA). The Security Risk Analysis is a requirement for all healthcare practices under the HIPAA Security Rule and it’s the first step to assessing the potential risks and vulnerabilities to protected health information held by the organization. However, 83% of practices fall short of this standard and ultimately miss the mark for having a sufficient risk management program in place.
David Hemmah, Director of Education at Abyde, is an experienced educator on HIPAA compliance. David’s background has allowed him to gain detailed insights on the challenges of achieving and maintaining compliance as an independent provider, including the difficulties and common mistakes in meeting government-mandated HIPAA requirements.
Learn more about:
– HIPAA Security Risk Analysis: What it is, why it’s important and how to avoid common misconceptions.
– What It Needs to Include: Meeting administrative, technical and physical safeguards.
– Enforcement Results: Including the recently passed HIPAA Safe Harbor Law.
– How Abyde Can Help: See for yourself how Abyde makes meeting this essential requirement simple.
