Dr. Christian Moher recognized as a national leader in changing the way opioids are prescribed and treating patients with chronic pain.
Moher, chief medical officer at Community Partners Integrated Healthcare, a division of Tucson-based Community Partners Inc., will be the first family physician to be recognized as “Doctor of the Year” by the National Council for Behavioral Health. The award, which has historically gone to a psychiatrist, recognizes a doctor “who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, empowering their patients to define their own goals and providing the encouragement and support to help them achieve their dreams.”
Part of that change was creating an approach to medicine that combines primary care and mental health in one clinic with one integrated medical record and a team approach to helping patients. Moher says mental health and primary care should not be operating separately, “in two silos.”
