New York-based startup health insurance company Oscar Health is expanding and hiring 400 new employees as it acquires new office space to establish a more robust presence in Arizona.
Oscar Health moved into its Tempe office in The Circuit complex just two years ago and is leasing another space in the complex, adding hundreds of jobs by 2020, nearly doubling its current workforce. Its branded as “a new kind of insurance company” and is increasingly technology-focused.
The insurer is preparing to offer coverage to 14 metro areas in 2019, including Phoenix as a newbie in Maricopa County—sign-ups for Oscar opened on Nov. 1. The company is acquiring 46,000 more square feet in office space, a decision stemming from its entrance into the Arizona healthcare market.
“Not only does the Oscar Health expansion create new job opportunities for our citizens, it offers the residents of Maricopa County a new option for health care coverage,” said Gov. Doug Ducey in a statement.
