Optum Accountable Care, which has operated a Next Generation ACO Program since January 1, 2016, has notified network providers that it is out of the Medicare ACO business as of March 31, 2018. Optum Accountable Care or “Optum ACO” as they are known, recently reported to The Hertel Report that it has approximately 37,000 traditional Medicare beneficiaries attributed to their network. Optum Accountable Care, formerly known as LifePrint, has also been in the Medicare Advantage market for many years, reporting over 65,000 members. The announcement was clear to point out that the Medicare Advantage lives are not affected by this decision.
The Hertel Report is currently editing our ACO data edition and will have more on this development soon for members of The Hertel Report.
