Oversight duties include Carondelet St. Joseph’s, Carondelet St. Mary’s and Carondelet Holy Cross hospitals.
Benz’s expanded role follows his tenure as chief executive at Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital. Under his leadership the hospital earned the top patient safety grade from The Leapfrog Group and was recognized as a top regional healthcare system by U.S. News and World Report. The hospital also was named the Best Center for Childbirth by readers of the Arizona Daily Star.
Benz brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience to the Carondelet Health Network, where he has family ties. His great aunt, Sr. Teresa Joseph Monaghan, was a sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet from 1903-68, and St. Mary’s Hospital was her ministry.
He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Arizona State University and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
