According to the latest list from the Phoenix Business Journal, Banner Health, HonorHealth and Dignity Health Arizona rank in the top ten of all employers by number of employees. With over 36,000 full-time employees in Arizona, Banner Health and its $7.8 billion in revenue has long been the top health system in Arizona when it comes to size by employees. Last week, The Phoenix Business Journal announced that Banner Health jumped over the State of Arizona to rank number 1 of all employers in Arizona. It turns out that Banner full time employee count was a little off and they are, in fact, still number two following the State. The list has been updated for PBJ subscribers.
HonorHealth and Dignity Health are ranked ninth and tenth with nearly the exact number of employees, 11,308 and 11,206 respectively. Mayo Clinic comes in at number 20 with over 6600 employees and UnitedHealthcare of Arizona is right behind in the 21st spot with nearly 6500. Also listed, in descending order of employees, are Phoenix Children’s, Cigna, Abrazo Community Health Network, SonoraQuest Labs and Humana.
Missing from the list for different reasons are: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, Steward Healthcare (formerly Iasis), Centene, Aetna, Maricopa Integrated Health Systems and others.
