Dignity in “final stages ” of merger talks with Catholic Health Initiatives.
The two non-profit agencies have combined revenue of $28 billion and employ 162,000 people.While both CHI and Dignity Health were founded by Roman Catholic Church-affiliated organizations, they also include non-Catholic hospitals. Both are known for their charitable care.
Dignity operates 39 hospitals in California, Nevada and Arizona staffed by 9,000 doctors and 62,000 employees. CHI, based in Colorado, staffs 4,300 doctors and 100,000 employees with 103 hospitals in 18 states.
“We are in the final stages of the due diligence process to assess the potential alignment of our ministries and we are pleased with the progress made to date. We look forward to being able to share additional information with you in the near future,” said Dignity Health spokeswoman Lauren Davis.
