Nationally, renewing customers outpace new consumers 3 to 1 in the final week of enrollment December 10-15, 2017.
The surge of consumers during the seventh and final week of enrollment brought Arizona’s open enrollment numbers totals to 166,961; about 85 percent of last year’s enrollment total.
It was a rush of numbers welcomed by advocates after CMS reported only about 88,000 Arizona residents had selected a plan on HealthCare.gov by the end of week six on December 9, 2017. Last year, nearly a quarter (24 percent) of the 196,000 in Arizona who enrolled were auto renewed on HealthCare.gov.
By June, Arizona’s active enrollment in a qualified health plan (QHP) dropped to 142,000.
Nationally, more than 8.8 million Americans selected a plan on HealthCare.gov by the close of open enrollment December 15, 2017.
