MGMA members can view this comprehensive overview of 2018 proposed rule changes to MIPS/APMs and physician fee schedules
This policy analysis by MGMA explains the intricacies of 2018 proposed rules for MIPS/APMs and physician fee schedules.
The 2018 proposed rule revises three central tenets of the MIPS/APM programs:
- Increase the low-volume threshold exclusion from MIPS
- Establish reporting criteria to avoid a future payment cut
- Retroactively reduce reporting requirements and associated penalties under the retired quality reporting programs, including PQRS
In 2018, the low-volume exclusion threshold will waive requirements for MIPS eligible clinicians with less than $90,000 in allowed Part B charges or clinicians with less than 200 Part B patients.
The comprehensive analysis will also review new performance and reporting standards, as well as changes in compensation for participating practices.
